Dynamical Monte Carlo method for stochastic epidemic models

چکیده
In this work we introduce a new approach to Dynamical Monte Carlo methods to simulate markovian processes. We apply this approach to formulate and study an epidemic generalized SIRS model. The results are in excellent agreement with the fourth order Runge-Kutta method in a region of deterministic solution. Introducing local stochastic interactions, the Runge-Kutta method is no longer applicable. Thus, we solve the system described by a set of stochastic differential equations by a Dynamical Monte Carlo technique and check the solutions self-consistently with a stochastic version of the Euler method. We also analyzed the results under the herd-immunity concept.

Efficient data augmentation for fitting stochastic epidemic models to prevalence data
Stochastic epidemic models describe the dynamics of an epidemic as a disease spreads through a population. Typically, only a fraction of cases are observed at a set of discrete times. The absence of complete information about the time evolution of an epidemic gives rise to a complicated latent variable problem in which the state space size of the epidemic grows large as the population size incr...
متن کاملFitting mechanistic epidemic models to data: a comparison of simple Markov chain Monte Carlo approaches
Background Simple mechanistic epidemic models are widely used for forecasting and parameter estimation of infectious diseases based on noisy case reporting data. Despite the widespread application of models to emerging infectious diseases, we know little about the comparative performance of standard computational-statistical frameworks in these contexts. Here we build a simple stochastic, discr...
متن کاملDiagrammatic Monte Carlo simulation of quantum impurity models
Quantum impurity models play an important role as representations of molecular conductors and in the “dynamical mean field” method, currently one of the most promising tools for studying the physics of fermionic lattice models. Despite their zero-dimensional nature, the numerical simulation of impurity models remains a challenging task. Progress has been achieved with the recent development of ...
متن کاملIdentification of Gaussian Process State-Space Models with Particle Stochastic Approximation EM
Gaussian process state-space models (GP-SSMs) are a very flexible family of models of nonlinear dynamical systems. They comprise a Bayesian nonparametric representation of the dynamics of the system and additional (hyper-)parameters governing the properties of this nonparametric representation. The Bayesian formalism enables systematic reasoning about the uncertainty in the system dynamics. We ...
متن کاملStochastic Assessment of Voltage Sags in Distribution Networks
This paper compares fault position and Monte Carlo methods as the most common methods in stochastic assessment of voltage sags. To compare their abilities, symmetrical and unsymmetrical faults with different probability distribution of fault positions along the lines are applied in a test system. The voltage sag magnitude in different nodes of test system is calculated. The problem with the...
